STEM/STEAM CERTIFIED SCHOOLS
The DeKalb County School District currently has 32 STE(A)M schools certified by two entities, the Georgia Department of Education and Cognia. The Georgia Department of Education offers STEM and STEAM certification to schools that is a state designation. Cognia offers STEM school certification that is an international designation. Both entities require schools to meet of set of designated requirements or standards to earn certification. Each certification is valid for five years at which point schools will have to apply for recertification.
