Audio Visual Technology & Communications Offers Summer Camps

DeKalb Audio Visual Technology & Communications students attended two student camps this summer. Students from various schools enhanced their skills while engaging in filming and animation workshops. 

 

The filmmaking workshop was held at Dunwoody High School where students from various schools learned filming, scrip writing, producing, acting, and editing.

The week long animation workshop was held at MLK Jr. High School. Students from many schools experimented with lip sync animations and created animations in their own likenesses.

    Tucker Culinary Arts Instructor Wins Annual Teacher Award

    The Rotary Club of Tucker named Tucker High School culinary arts teacher, Allysa McCarthy as its Teacher of the Year.

    Chef McCarthy has taught culinary arts at Tucker High School since 2015 and worked in nutrition for 13 years. 

    Chef McCarthy has led her students to compete in local culinary competitions in which they have consistently placed in the top two spots. Her students have also catered events for DeKalb superintendents, Junior ROTC, central offices, Rotary officials, etc.

    Chef McCarthy is a phenomenal teacher who is admired by our students and staff and widely respected across the entire school community, "said Tucker High School Principal Eric Parker. "The genuine care she has for her studetns is admirable. As a culinary arts teacher, she has taken our program to another level, winning awards throughout DeKalb County. I value her work and commitment to Tucker High School and thank her for her family for the countless hours she devotes to our students and our curriculum."

    McCarthy was one of eight DeKalb educatores honored with teacher of the year awards by the DeKalb Rotary Council.
